Members
of the League are involved at every step needed to create a
position for action:
Yearly program
planning meetings for local Leagues: members review existing
positions and suggest new topics for new positions.
The LWV Ohio board compiles
the suggestions from all 34 local Leagues and prepares a set of program recommendations for consideration at the
biennial LWV Ohio convention.
Delegates to each biennial
LWV Ohio convention reconfirm or revise existing positions and adopt studies of potential new positions for the next two-year period.
After adoption of a study
topic,
the LWV Ohio board appoints a Study Committee which researches
the topic, prepares informational materials for members, and
develops questions for member discussion and agreement (consensus).
Upon receiving the
information materials,
Local Leagues meet to
discuss and develop consensus on the issue.
The LWV Ohio board compiles
the meeting results and if there is consensus among local
Leagues, reformats the consensus statements into a concise
position statement to
use as the basis for
action.
