Ohio Coalition for Open Government established by the Ohio Newspaper Foundation. The Coalition serves as a clearinghouse for media and citizen grievances that involve open meetings and open records, and offers guidance to reporters in local government situations.

Money in Politics The Ohio Citizen Action Education Fund, the research affiliate of Ohio Citizen Action. The Money in Politics Project researches contributions to statewide and legislative candidates in Ohio to “follows the money,” exposing the sources of candidates’ campaign funds.

Follow the Money Money in state politics plays a pivotal role in shaping public policy in individual states and across the nation. The nonpartisan Institute on Money in State Politics tracks contributions in all 50 states and makes the data easily searchable.

Sunshine Week National Sunshine Week is led by the American Society of Newspaper Editors to open a dialogue about the importance of open government and freedom of information. Participants include print, broadcast and online news media, civic groups, libraries, non-profits, schools and others interested in the public’s right to know. is the website for the Center for Responsive Politics, the nation’s premier research group tracking money in U.S. politics and its effect on elections and public policy. Nonpartisan, independent and nonprofit, the organization aims to create a more educated voter, an involved citizenry and a more responsive government.

National Freedom of Information Coalition As part of the NFOIC’s continued efforts to support citizen access to government information, the Freedom of Information Resource Web project provides a comprehensive guide to obtaining information guaranteed under state and federal open meetings and open records laws.

The National Security Archive An independent non-governmental research institute and library located at The George Washington University, the Archive collects and publishes declassified documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. The web site contains information on FOIA and how to make a FOIA request. is a coalition of journalists, consumer and good government groups, environmentalists, labor and others united to make the federal government a more open place in order to make us safer, strengthen public trust in government, and support our democratic principles.

New America Foundation is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit public policy institute that was conceived through the collaborative work of a diverse and intergenerational group of public intellectuals, civic leaders and business executives.
