Protect Honesty in Education
The nation faces a growing campaign to prohibit and censor honesty in education.
This is an attempt to hide difficult truths and realities about our past and present, and deny students their voice and identity. Many professional educators are being labeled Marxist, and their schools "indoctrination centers" for teaching complete accounts of history, helping students understand complex social issues, and embracing each child's individuality.
In Ohio, honesty in education faces 3 threats . . .
Legislators introduced two bills that would prohibit the promotion of "Divisive Concepts" in education and other public organaizations; penalties include up to 100% of state funding AND revocation of licensure.
in Local School Boards/Districts
Misinformed residents are demanding their districts REVERT back to "color blindness" to prevent racism and discrimination; and STOP DEI, anti-racist teachings, and embracing differences.
at the State Board of Education
Members face pressure to withdraw its Res. to Condemn Racism and Advance Equity and Opportunity for Black Students, Indigenous Students, and Students of Color, adopted by a 12-5 vote, in July 2020.
The League of Women Voters of Ohio STRONGLY OPPOSES any threat to honesty in education at any level; and opposes and any efforts that endanger principles and practices of diversity, equity, and inclusion, including anti-discrimination, anti-racism, anti-hate, multiculturalism, and cultural proficiency.
